In a first-rate step toward popularizing water sports activities in the State, the first of its type district stage, the water sports Championship started on Thursday at Water Sports Centre Nehru Park. On a primary day, kayaking, canoeing, dragon boating, and competitions, such as canoe polo, were held. Three hundred fifty players from Anantnag, Pulwama, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Srinagar, and a few Jammu province players also take elements inside the event. Women are similarly lively in this championship as the player participation ratio stays at 50:50. The number of members is likely to boom throughout the remaining days of the tournament, which is scheduled to conclude on 20th October 2018.
Water sports are an Olympic discipline recreation that has given the country the maximum number of full country medals. It has also been the source of livelihood for the players as masses of medalists have got government jobs based on their achievements in water sports activities. Blues Mir, global water sports activities teacher and In-price, Water Sports Centre, said, “The initiative has been taken vicinity for the first time in the records. National/International degrees.” Meanwhile, a massive organization comprising more than 3000 spectators surrounded the Dal banks to watch the players compete in the video games. They were visibly clapping for the kids, which also boosted their morale. The secretary of the J&K State Sports Council interacted with the players at Nehru Park and endorsed them for water sports and extended the guide’s hand in all approaches.
“The district-level championship has been held to nurture the talent at the root of the s, and it’s far happening for the first time that children from diverse districts are taking part in it,” said Secretary Sports Council Dr. Naseem Javaid Choudhary, Dr. Saleem Ur Rehman, DG Youth Services & Sports, and Shahid Mahmood.
The Deputy Director of Employment graced the event as a guest. D.G Youth Services and Sports Dr. Saleem Ur Rehman stated, “It will offer a platform for developing skills to compete at various ranges. Talent identification is a technique for grooming them to achieve excellence at district ranges, after which they are equal at the kingdom stage and so forth.”
