Educate ride to Delhi and interaction with Prakash Padukone — badminton has spelled desire-fulfillment and empowerment for two 12-12 months-olds from a red light region. The duo from Munshigunj, Kidderpore, the most effective woman in the country, decided on a badminton scholarship program for Child Rights and You (CRY), an NGO geared toward empowering underprivileged kids. Seven youngsters from Bengal and nine from the rest of America received the scholarship this 12 months. The ladies from Kidderpore,
both college students of Class VII, had never stepped out in their abusive surroundings till they picked up badminton racquets. “We took element in a play last year and acquired the racquets as gifts from an NGO after the overall performance. We started out playing whenever we had time. Then someday, we were requested to enroll for a badminton match,” said one of the ladies.
The ladies attended 10-day coaching before participating in a junior badminton championship. “We were pitted against kids who were gambling for months, but we held forth. I was thrilled when I decided on the scholarship,” said one of the girls. Members of the Badminton Association of India selected the players. Adventure awaited the ladies as they needed to travel to Delhi to acquire the scholarships.
“It becomes tough convincing their dad and mom. Both have alcoholic fathers and moms who paintings as help,” said Saptami Paul of NGO Diksha, who teaches existence abilties to children and followed the children on the trip.
